Jute fiber-reinforced mortars: mechanical response and thermal performance

Enhancing energy efficiency and structural capacity are the main objectives of masonry retrofitting. However, a combined enhancement both aspects is hardly achievable, as they related to relevant geometric physical parameters in somewhat “competitive” fashion. Therefore, focus this research achieve dual positive effect by improving thermal insulation properties behavior composite building materials, also with an eye sustainability. In context, jute fibers mortars were fabricated using three different fiber lengths (5 mm,10 mm 30 mm) four percentages (0.5%,1%,1.5% 2%) respect mortar masses. Unreinforced samples showed fragile collapse during flexural compression (with hour-glass shape) tests. Whereas reinforced exhibited higher ductility strain but lower strength. These present resistance percentage increases. Samples longer (30 mm, all category) can dissipate more mechanical energy, whereas shorter have conductivity values, which leads samples.
